The atmosphere of the place is unique. Simplicity, beauty and silence are found in the workroom of the monastery. Here you can seek depth, inspiration, concentration. Peace of soul. The history of the last 1000 years breathes through the rooms and the thick, shielding walls, while the ancient shrubs and trees of the monastery garden stand as yet another greeting from former residents.
The protected monastery's garden and forest as well as a marked nature trail are open to the public. The forest consists mostly of very old deciduous trees, especially beech and oak. The female snap beech, which is almost 6 m in circumference, is probably about 300 years old. In the old idyllic gardener's house there is an exciting exhibition about the history of the monastery.
Since 1969, Ørslev Kloster has been one of the oldest and best known working refugees in the Nordic countries. The refuge is run by the Association Ørslev Kloster. Anyone who wants to work undisturbed for a period of time can hire in for an affordable amount.
